There are numerous layers of photos which also includes National Geographic phenomenal photography, 3 dimensional images of buildings are available, national parks, mass transit routes, and much much more. You can also explore the superb layers provided with Google Earth. On your personal sites of interest you can save your own placemarks and share them with the Google Earth Community (right click on the placemark after creating it). The features of Google Earth are countless. Use a country or state name with searches for better results as there are lots of places with same names. Use search to look up for a particular address, a city name, or a country and Google Earth will glide you at your desired place in no time. On the left hand side of the screen, you will spot the search, layers, and places.
Once you are done with the installation of Google Earth, you will be able to launch it and will experience like the world is on your finger tips.
